1st Battalion 14th Field Artillery Regiment ("Steel Warriors") Return Home to Fort Sill

Mission.
1st Battalion 14th Field Artillery Regiment provides long-range, precision, surface-to-surface fires with the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). The Battalion is the only HIMARS Battalion assigned to the 75th Field Artillery Brigade and to III Corps.

In December 2017 1st Battalion 14th Field Artillery Regiment deployed to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility to provide fires in the Middle East and Central Asia supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Freedom Sentinel and Operation Spartan Shield.

Accomplishments.

Operation Inherent Resolve

DEFEAT OF ISIS IN HAWIJA AND THE JAZEERA DESERT. 1-14 FAR supported Iraqi Security Forces and CJTF-OIR operations to clear ISIS from the Hawija pocket and the Jazeera Desert — the last areas of ISIS control in Iraq.

DEGRADATION AND CONTAINMENT OF ISIS IN THE EUPHRATES RIVER VALLEY. 1-14 FAR HIMARS strikes and counterfire supported Syrian Democratic Force and Iraqi Security Force efforts to eliminate ISIS control in the Euphrates River Valley on both sides of the Iraq-Syrian border.

THE MILITARY DEFEAT OF ISIS IN IRAQ AND SYRIA. 1-14 FAR directly contributed to the defeat of the ISIS caliphate in Iraq and Syria by providing precision fires in support of Iraqi Security Forces, the Syrian Democratic Force and the CJTF-OIR Team.

Operation Freedom's Sentinel

AFGHANISTAN. 1-14 FAR deployed a HIMARS platoon to Afghanistan in support of U.S. Forces–Afghanistan to enable the defeat of Al Qaida and ISIS-K, and neutralize the Taliban in Central Asia.

Operation Spartan Shield

OPERATION SAIF STRIKE. Bravo Battery, 75th FA Brigade and 79th Heavy Rocket Regiment (UAE) trained on convoy operations, reaction to IED, recovery operations and executed a bilateral live fire exercise to build interoperability with our Emirati partners and improved readiness to execute contingency operations.

OPERATION DIAMOND TEMPEST. Bravo Battery, 75th FA Brigade and 79th Heavy Rocket Regiment (UAE) conducted a joint, bilateral HIMARS rapid infiltration. The exercise demonstration how Emirati land forces and the U.S. Army create strategic dilemmas for adversaries by posturing long-range rocket and missile firepower across the Arabian peninsula.

OPERATION EAGER LION. Alpha Battery, 75th FA Brigade and 29th Royal HIMARS Battalion (Jordan) conducted a field training exercise, combined arms live fire exercise and a HIMARS qualification to build readiness and increase the 29th RHB's ability to defeat surface threats.

OPERATION GOLDEN EAGLE. 1-14 FAR, 75th FA Brigade and 79th Heavy Rocket Regiment (UAE) conducted a CONPLAN 1533 rehearsal that included readiness exercises, convoy operations and a synchronized bilateral live fire exercise. The operation built interoperability with our Emirati partners and improved our readiness to execute contingency operations.

OPERATION LION FLIGHT. Alpha Battery, and 29th Royal HIMARS Battalion (Jordan) conducted a joint, bilateral HIMARS rapid infiltration that included a GMLRS live fire, building interoperability with our Jordanian partners and projecting influence within the CENTCOM Area of Operation.

Redeployment.

1st Battalion 14th Field Artillery transferred authority in the Area of Operations to 1st Battalion 121 Field Artillery. The Battalion's colors were cased, to be uncased upon the unit's return to Fort Sill.
